Injectable contraceptives are safe, effective, and discreet, making them among the most popular family planning options. However, access to injectable contraceptive remains a barrier for many women in rural and remote communities. Sayana Press, also known as DMPA-SC, is easy to transport and easy to use with minimal training, ideal for community health workers and for women themselves to administer. The Advancing Partners & Communities project conducted a randomized controlled trial comparing continuation rates of women using self-injected and provider-injected contraceptives, including community health workers.
